The closing conference of BMBF project "Urban Climate Under Change" took place in Berlin from March 2-3, 2023.

Since 2016, the BMBF has been funding the joint project "Urban Climate Under Change" with a total of 26 million euros. The aim of the project was and is to develop an innovative urban climate model for science and practice. Leibniz Universität Hannover plays a central role in the project. The PALM model (http://palm-model.org) is being developed at the Institute for Meteorology and Climatology (working group of Prof. Maronga and Prof. Raasch), which has been further developed and evaluated by several research institutions as part of the funding measures for use in urban areas . All working groups of the institute were involved in the development. PALM is now the world's leading small-scale model for simulating the urban atmosphere. The project results were presented and discussed at the final meeting in the Harnack House of the Max Planck Society with the participation of the BMBF in Berlin.
